Temporary Visa V (VITEM-V)
- With the sole exception of short-term technical assistance in cases of emergency, the Brazilian interested party must submit the VITEM-V application directly to the Ministry of Labor.
- The Consulate-General will only accept the visa application after being informed by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the Brazilian Ministry of Labor has authorized the visa.
- The visa for transference of technology or for provision of technical assistance can be issued by the Brazilian Consulate without previous consent from the Ministry of Labor in the following two cases of emergency:
- imminent risk to life, to the environment or to the assets of the company in Brazil;
- interruption of the production or services of the company in Brazil.
In either situation, both the Brazilian and US company/institution must submit to the Consulate-General, for consideration, letters, in their letterheads, explaining the nature of the emergency.
The emergency visa is valid for multiple entries, for a stay of up to 30 days only. It can be issued to the same person only once every 3 months.
