Visa for paid participation in performing arts events must be applied in Brazil directly to the Ministry of Labor by the Brazilian sponsor.
Only after receiving the visa authorization from the concerned Brazilian authorities will the Consulate General accept the visa application. 
 

I-Requirements for a Temporary Visa

1) Authorization 
    Issued by Brazilian authorities.
 
 2) Passport
a) US citizens: Original (no copies), signed by the applicant, with a minimum remaining validity of six months left and with at least two contiguous blank pages left.
b) Non US citizens must present proof of legal residency, such as a photocopy of green card or of a valid visa in the United States, or an American Re-entry Permit.
c) Visas will be issued on a "laissez-passer" to individuals of: Bhutan, Central African Republic and Taiwan.

3) Receipt ("Protocolo")
a) APPLICATION FORM: Click here to fill out the visa-request form;
ALL fields must be filled out, not only those indicated with an asterisk. Incomplete forms will be returned; The information provided by the applicant is used for issuing the VISA: Be very carefull when filling out the visa application form.
b) Print and sign the receipt. 
Notice: In case of visa application for minors under 18, please read "Minors under 18 years of age", below;
 
4) One photograph
Passport size, in color or black and white, full-face only, on a white or clear background. Instant, digital, photocopies or scanned photos are not acceptable. Please, attach the photo on the first square of the "Receipt".
 

II-Method of payment

The Consulate General in Chicago ONLY accepts payments with Money Order issued by the U.S. Postal Service payable to “Consulate General of Brazil in Chicago”.


 
The Consulate General does not accept personal checks, credit cards, or any other form of payment.

III-Processing time    

Usually, three (3) working days, after all requirements are met. 
Note that this period does not include:
    a) the time an application is held by a visa service or a travel agency;
    b) the time the applicant takes to provide additional information/documents eventually required by the Consulate;
    c) the time in the mail
.
 
During high season and in the case of group visas, longer processing time periods may apply.
