VERY IMPORTANT
The Consulate General of Brazil in Chicago would like to inform that due to technical difficulties with the new electronic system of visa and passport issuance, processing of these documents may take up to 5 business days.
 

GENERAL INFORMATION
  
 
  1. AFTER VISA IS ISSUED - Once the visa is issued, its bearer must enter Brazil within 90 days from the date that it was issued.  Failure to enter within that time frame, the visa will expire.  The visa bearer is responsible to monitor this period of time.
     
  2. EXPEDITE FEE - The Consulate General does not expedite visas.  It is the applicant's obligation to present the complete documentation on due time. For the same reason, the Consulate does not charge any kind of "expedite fee".
 
  1. PICK UP VISA - To pick up the VISA it is MANDATORY that the Receipt slip be presented. 
    A third party, with a valid photo ID, may collect the VISA as long as the original Receipt slip or a notarized letter from the applicant is presented.
 
  1. VISA REQUIREMENTS - The visa requirements listed on this website are not all-inclusive.  The Consulate General may request additional documents and information whenever they are deemed necessary.
 
  1. VISA: ISSUING, DENYING, TYPE and DURATION - The issuing (or denying) of a visa, its type and duration are decided by the Consulate General based on Brazilian legislation only.  The Consulate General does not disclose the reasons of its decisions.
 
  1. MINORS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE - Visa-request forms for applicants under 18 years of age must be signed by both legal guardians.  The signature of the legal guardian who does not appear in person at the Consulate General must be certified by a notary public.
